Mt Ruapehu

The snow over the past week has closed a lot of roads including the desert roasd, but by Friday it was open. I had a last coffee at Soul Cafe in Taihape to give the ice time to melt then set off north.
Mt Ruapehu from the desert road.
Ruapehu was a picture, all decked out in her winter white.

The Hills of Home

This photo was taken from Cemetary Hill in Taihape looking south. It is cold there at the moment  - there is snow on the Ruahine ranges which you can just about see in the photo if you enlarge it, though small digital cameras don't see nearly as much as our eyes.

Its the view the alpaca and goats have from their paddock.

Snow on the hills

It rained, it hailed, then it snowed. Today Dunedin feels like an alpine village. Bright sunshine but very cold with frost until lunch time.Lunchtime yesterday.
Blue skies today at noon.
