Berlin car drivers are quite a different breed to those in Sydney. In Berlin there are bicycles everywhere and cars slow down to let them move into the traffic. Sydney drivers would be more likely to step on the accelerator just to teach the bicyclist a lesson. I am finding Berlin a refreshing lesson in good manners.

There are lots of bikes in Maribor and cars are banned from the city center.
In Munich (below) there are more bikes than cars in the early morning on their way to work..
Why can't Australia get its act together and promote bicyling?

Blankenese bike ride
It is so nice being in a city where bike riding is the norm. Most footpaths are divided into bike and foot paths and cars watch out for bicyclists.
Today I rode down to the Elbe river the along to Blankenese. The sun was shining and it was very picturesque. I painted the hillside of houses while I drank my coffee at the Ahrsburg Cafe on the banks of the Elbe.
Then I pushed my bike up the narrow streets to Blankenese village and had a cup of tea while admiring the houses across the road.
