The Ralph Hotere park overlooking a milk blue Otago Harbour is a wonderful native garden. In it there are several different types of flax, a plant I love. New Zealand flax (
Phormium) is not at all like the northern hemisphere flax (
Linum) but the fibres of both can be used.
