Frankfurt

Frankfurt is one of the world's commercial hubs so it is no surprise to see the large blue Euro with yellow European stars near the Frankfurt opera house.

It seems to have special significance right now after the visit by President Trump which seems to have had the effect of welding the diverse States together.

A few streets further on is the Römer, a picturesque building which has served as Frankfurt's town hall for three centuries.

When I was there early on Friday morning a city council worker was sweeping the forecourt with an old fashioned broom made of long twigs, the type used for hundreds of years. I found it strangely comforting to see this broom in use in a 21st century commercial hub.
